Vision and Objectives

Manipulative tactics spread through news and social media hinder citizens’ ability to engage in informed civic dialogue.  The d-AI-logue project develops a generative AI assistant to support users in cultivating a critical stance towards information and in increasing their media literacy skills.

State-of-the-art technologies (transformer-based classifiers, few-shot LLM learning) will be used to design and implement the citizen companion. Integrating SSH knowledge, such as prebunking techniques and disinformation-specific media literacy theories, AI and SSH research will be used to design a Socratic-style dialogue, that aims to cultivate critical thinking and educate about disinformation, instead of being an authority that makes veracity decisions. This project pertains to a youth-led and tech-enabled democratic recovery scalable to the wider European youth population.

The project plans to engage students in using the d-AI-logue assistant, in both urban and rural areas. Beyond schools, the d-AI-logue project will engage citizens through online and in-person collaborative experiences at AiTHERIONThe Lyceum Project and Aristotle’s Lyceum.
